Tomorrow will be better.

45 socially distanced junior endurance runners last night, ready and waiting.
A group of smiling and enthusiastic seniors on Wednesday evening.
Above and below. No pain, no gain.
Tomorrow will be a better day.

The words of Captain Tom and maybe, just maybe, tomorrow is finally, gradually arriving.

This week saw the resumption of group training, with sessions at the track for both juniors and masters and at the club for seniors.

I was fortunate to be at the track yesterday evening with 45 of the younger group of our junior endurance athletes. This session was followed by the older group, while on the track there was a large group of junior T&F athletes and a sprinkling of Vets.

All in all there must have been close to 100 athletes supported by a group of dedicated volunteer coaches.

There are several T&F events scheduled for The Pingles and Cheltenham to look forward to and looking at the entry lists it looks like we will be well represented by both young and not so young members.

Isn’t it great to be back ?

Elsewhere in the newsletter there is a plea from me for articles on any forthcoming events you may be competing in and a note of what will be happening on the triathlon front.

There’s also a notification of our Vets T&F fixtures.

Have a great Easter and take care.

Best wishes.

David Jones.
Seb Hillard and Flynn Dathan. Apparently Seb is feeling the worse for wear this morning after 3 full on sessions of T&F, rugby and endurance training this week. Flynn was suffering from a surfeit of bananas but still looking good!

The Stratford Herald have been hugely supportive of the club over the years. Earlier in the year they devoted almost 3 pages to us on how we had coped during the pandemic.

Hopefully next week there will be an feature on Josh and Ben Harrison’s fund raising efforts.

They have asked me if, with events starting to happen again, they can expect any reports from us.

So if you are competing in the future, please please please let me have a report, not only for the newsletter but also so that anything suitable can be passed on to both The Herald and the Stratford Observer.

You can send them either to me or to our Press Officer, Christine Cooper at

sacpressreport@gmail.com

If you could send them soon after the event so that they are fairly current, that would be wonderful.

Many thanks.
The vets T&F team from a couple of years ago at Redditch. Somehow it seems longer.
Vets T&F fixtures.

I’ve had a few members ask me for the dates of vets T&F fixtures. As things stand they are as follows.

5th May – This fixture is looking unlikely due to a lack of venue.

9th June – Redditch.

July 7th – Our home fixture, to be held at the Stratford School Track. This is subject to final confirmation from the school.

August 11th – Possibly at Solihull – This is again subject to confirmation of the venue.

5th September – Cup Final at The Pingles Stadium in Nuneaton.

Triathlon

Many of you will have seen Richard’s email from earlier in the week but just in case, it is reprinted below.

Triathlon events are coming back! Last year the Tri Grand Prix was abandoned due to Covid but now that restrictions are being lifted, events are gradually reopening!

So, for the remainder of this year 2021, our triathlon events Guru, Brian Weetman, has come up with this years plan which is to kick off from 1st July , with 6 events and 4 to count and a late start to ensure it actually happens.

So far, the events list is as follows:
  1. Bredon sprint 10th July (awaiting licence)
  2. Cotswold LPS standard 24th July
  3. Edge middle distance 8th August
  4. Cotswold sprint 5th September
  5. Stourport Severn sprint 19th September
  6. Warwick sprint 3rd October

The events list with links is on website at:
http://archive.stratfordac.co.uk/triathlon-grand-prix-races/

Information and updates can be found on the private Tri Group Facebook page for SAC club members at:
www.facebook.com/groups/stratfordtriclub/

There may be some alterations as we progress. Bredon licence is under review at present, and other events may be slotted in to keep 6 events for the year. Updates will be on the Facebook page and the website.

There are also other events not on the grand prix which some people are doing such as:
11th April 2021 – Tempo Events duathlon (Open)
11th/12th September – Blenheim (Ballot places)

Good luck everyone!!

March Shakespeare results.

The results of the March virtual Shakespeare race are currently being scrutinised before being officially publicised. I have been asked if they are available yet, so for the provisional results to date please follow the link below.

Rather interestingly we seem to have had a tie for 1st place. I’m not sure if that has ever happened before.

Details of the April race will be announced shortly, as will the results of the March Magic Mile
