Senior road running – Grand Prix, Warwickshire Road Race League & Road Relays

Stratford Athletics Club Grand Prix

A series of local road races are chosen annually as counters for this competition, often coinciding with the WRRL races (see below). The list is made up of a variety of distances from 5k to half marathon, and spread throughout the year. There are usually 15 races with the best 8 to count.

Prizes are awarded annually at the Awards Night in different gender age groups and overall

Warwickshire Road Race League

The league is organised by the Warwickshire County Athletics Association (WCAA). It consists of a number of road races over a range of distances throughout the year and our own Summer 6 is one of the races included in this series.

The best of six count towards the team prizes, while the best of five count towards the individual prizes.

There are approximately 12 Warwickshire clubs who compete in this league and we have had a small amount of success in the past. With a little extra participation, we could get among the prizes and, as a club, we hope to give this a greater profile this year. To encourage members to participate we have included some of these races in our Grand Prix competition.

Midland and National Road Relays

This annual event, held in Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield, each March comprises a 12-stage men’s race and a 6-stage women’s race.

The men’s race has four long stages and eight short stages. The top teams qualify for the national race that is held in April and has six long stages and six short stages.

The women’s race has six equal distance stages, as does the national race.
