Photo Special.

Goodness me what a remarkable day.

They say a picture paints a thousand words, so I thought I would save myself a few thousand words by letting the photos do the talking. I also thought the Club Championships did merit their own newsletter.

Huge thanks to Tilly Campbell for taking the photos. She managed to compete as well. I am in awe.

I spoke to quite a few parents and grandparents of junior members at the championships and what came across was not so much the athletic skills that are are learnt at the club but the friends that are made. The fun that is had. The camaraderie. The team spirit. The support that members give to each other

The other statement made on more than one occasion about the club was that it’s a family. That’s hard to argue with.

The family that plays together stays together.

Huge thanks are due to Paul Bearman, Carolyne Johnston and Sandy Green together with the small army of coaches and volunteers who made the whole event happen and what an event it was, with some 40 races and close to 30 field event competitions on the day.

We are so so lucky to have these people who are happy to generously give of their time but we really do need more. If you don’t currently help out in any way, just look at these photos and see the pleasure it gives to so many and consider offering to help out. You will not regret it.

It’s a family.

I rather like that.

Take care.

David Jones.
